Adur Art Club

?

Our club was founded in January 1961 and aimed to foster the practice of the pictorial arts and to enable members to meet for that purpose. The activities include drawing and painting in watercolours, oils, acrylics and pastels.

We have demonstrations by professional artists and each year we hold an Exhibition here in the Shoreham Centre to display the work that members have completed throughout the year.

Demonstrations

Non members are welcome to join us for our demonstrations at the Shoreham Centre. We meet in Room 8, upstairs and the cost is £4. These will always be on a Thursday afternoon 2-4pm. On each occasion tea and coffee are provided.

We are a very friendly club and we look forward to welcoming fellow artists who share a common interest in learning from others.

Dance Fit

Adult Dance Fit Class which encompasses a variety of dance styles in one session to give an all-round workout for the brain and the body. It's great fun and open to anyone, including beginners.

Dancercise for the over 50’s.

A fun Dance Exercise class for the OVER 50’s which has build up a friendly group over the last few years.
Everyone is welcome to come and have fun learning Salsa, Line Dance, Broadway, 80’s, Charleston and much more every week. Jane has been a professional dancer on stage and TV and now teaches in Brighton, Shoreham, Worthing and has been invited as a Guest Teacher on several cruise ships.
Jane is passionate about dance, the fitness and mental benefits and the social aspect of making friends. Please do come and join us – all abilities welcome.

GENTLE EXERCISE TO MUSIC for the over 60’s

This class is based round chairs and can be done seated or standing.

The 45 min class gives a full body workout and is based on dance, yoga, pilates, Alexander Technique and physiotherapy exercises.  It is low impact, strengthens muscles, enhances flexibility, balance and stamina.  The exercises are all set to the music you will know to help boost mental health.

I have been a professional dancer on stage and TV and now in my 60’s I specialise in teaching the over 60’s with keeping fit and supple. I also teach Dancerise classes at The Shoreham Centre.

Gentle Yoga & Relaxation

This friendly and welcoming class is with Su, who is a BWY 500 hour yoga teacher.

The class is suitable for beginners and anyone looking for a slower paced gentle yoga practice.

Classes also include breathing practices and relaxation, so you leave feeling calm and relaxed.

Mumrave is a fun dance fitness class to club and party music with glowsticks in the dark. Music from 90s rave to Drum and Bass to Major Lazer and Rudimental plus a sprinkling of pop you’ll be following our lead with dance routines, sweating your socks off and having a whole load of fun.
The class is not just for Mums but called Mumrave so Mums know it’s a safe space to be amongst like minded peeps (not a scary fitness class!).

Shoreham Draw-Life Drawing Sessions

On the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evening of the month, life drawing classes will be run by Cath and Martina, two local artists with experience in teaching in community groups and further education colleges. Facilitated by our connections with diverse life models, we aim to provide sessions for all levels of experience, where focus will be on connecting to the process of looking and drawing, rather than the outcome. Our approach aims to support you in nurturing your inner artist and provide and provide long term benefits in your personal creative practice through the foundation of drawing from life. We'll also make sure it's  fun!'

Tai Chi 60+

Wudang Tai Chi Chuan is a  Chinese martial art and method of exercise that can be practiced on many levels by all ages. Based on the Taoist Philosophy of Yin & Yang, the system seeks to promote harmony in the Physical and mental state of the student.

Regular practice of the slow, graceful and flowing movements contained within the handform are ideal for a seniors who wish to improve their general health, balance, posture, co ordination and strength.

Loose clothing and flat shoes should be worn. Students have to be able to stand and move unaided.
